The Pacific Crest Trail Again?
Why am I hiking the
PCT Again?
Hi everyone! I know this may come as a shock to some, but for others, it’s probably an “oh, that makes sense” kind of announcement. But yes—I am hiking the Pacific Crest Trail again!
Third time’s a charm, but is the second time a delight? I guess we’ll find out! I don’t want to overpromise, but let’s just say… a Triple Crown of the Pacific Crest Trail might be in my future.
For those unfamiliar with thru-hiking terminology, a Triple Crown typically refers to completing the three major long-distance trails in the U.S.:
The Appalachian Trail (AT)
The Continental Divide Trail (CDT)
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT)
Most thru-hikers finish one and immediately start wondering, “Which trail am I doing next?” The answers vary—from smaller trails like the Arizona Trail (AZT) and Colorado Trail (CT) to tackling the AT or CDT to complete the Triple Crown.
But as I was finishing my hike in 2022, I already knew in my heart—I’d be back on the Pacific Crest Trail. There was no other trail I could picture myself hiking next. At first, I wondered if it was just because I was still immersed in the journey, fully enjoying every step. But even after leaving the trail, the question kept coming up. And every time, my answer was the same: the PCT.
And now, nearly three years later, I’m making it happen. I’m setting out in March to thru-hike my first love of a trail—again. There is no other trail I can picture myself on right now, and for that, I’m beyond excited.
Let’s do this. PCT Round 2!
